What is a Soul Sip?

Sometimes, all our soul needs is a small pause—a gentle sip of encouragement—to remind us that God is near. That’s what a Soul Sip is: a short, reflective devotional designed to help you slow down, breathe, and take in just enough truth to carry you through the moment.

Each Soul Sip is drawn from real moments of reflection, scripture, and lived experience. They’re not long teachings or heavy lessons, but small servings of care for your soul—something you can sit with over your morning coffee, a quiet lunch break, or just before bed.

Think of them as conversation starters between you and God. A Soul Sip offers you a few words of encouragement, a scripture to anchor your heart, and a reflection prompt to stir your own thoughts and prayers.

At The Gathering Table, we believe rest, reflection, and connection are sacred. Soul Sips are our way of offering you a taste of that sacred pause—an invitation to slow down, reflect, and let your soul be nourished.

Stop carrying what was never yours to hold.

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14 (NIV)

Move Out of the Way

“When life comes at you hard, pause. Instead of rushing to figure out your next step, whisper a different prayer: God, what are You about to do? Faith isn’t always about your hustle—it’s about your trust. In the waiting, God is already at work.

These are the moments you truly get to experience God. Too often, we believe we have to carry it all ourselves. We don’t ask for help—from others or from the One who is the answer. But what if we acknowledged that we need help, that we don’t have all the answers?

Imagine how the weight could be lifted if we let our village, our circle, step in. More importantly, imagine the freedom of calling on God, moving out of the way, and letting Him work.”

When the Weight Lifts

Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV)
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light

“Sis, it’s easy to get caught in the rhythm of our day-to-day — moving from one thing to the next without pausing long enough to notice the shifts around us. We live inside the lists, the deadlines, the expectations, and before we know it, the days start blending together.

But grace has a way of working quietly.

One morning, without even trying, you catch yourself humming again. You realize the heaviness you carried last season doesn’t weigh quite the same. Your routine feels lighter — not because life suddenly became easy, but because God has been carrying what you thought you had to hold alone.

That’s testimony. That’s grace at work in the hidden places. It shows up not just in the big miracles, but in the small mercies we didn’t even see until the weight was gone.

Take a moment today to name the place in your life that feels lighter than it did before. Sometimes, gratitude begins with simply noticing.”

The Gathering Table,

Where there is always room

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” — Psalm 23:5 (NIV)

Room at the Table

There’s a seat here for you—unrushed, unjudged, and unmeasured. You don’t have to earn it. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to bring anything but yourself.

When Jesus prepared a table for His friends, He didn’t ask them to fix themselves before sitting down. He simply invited them. He welcomed them into a space where their stories could be shared, their burdens could be lightened, and their souls could find rest.

That same invitation is here for you now. Bring your laughter, your questions, your stories… even your silence. Let the weight you’ve been carrying slip off your shoulders. Let yourself be nourished—not just by food, but by the company of women who will pray with you, laugh with you, and hold you in love.

You already have a place here. The table is set, and your seat has been waiting.
