Hot Chocolate
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
— Exodus 14:14 (NIV)
There’s something about hot chocolate I’ve always loved.
I love hot chocolate the way some people love coffee. It’s not just something I drink in the wintertime — I can enjoy it in the hottest weather or when it’s freezing cold.
Hot chocolate brings me comfort. It helps center me, grounds me, and somehow gives me confidence and reassurance that I can get through whatever my day might bring.
Something about it also stirs a spirit of anticipation. When I’m sipping hot chocolate, it’s as if I can almost feel what’s coming next. There’s this quiet excitement, a peace mixed with expectancy — like a child waiting for something wonderful to happen.
For me, a mug of hot chocolate is more than a warm drink. It’s an invitation to pause, savor stillness, and breathe.
It reminds me that comfort can be simple, that peace can be found in the middle of ordinary moments.
Sometimes the smallest rituals — like stirring cocoa into warm milk — can remind you that you’re cared for, covered, and held.
So maybe it’s not just hot chocolate. Maybe it’s a reminder that there’s still sweetness in the waiting.
